Two drivers were injured Wednesday morning in a crash along Interstate 44 in Rogers County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 11:17 a.m. on Aug. 12 near mile marker 260.5 in the eastbound lanes of I-44.
According to the OHP report, a vehicle driven by 55-year-old John Tottress of Tulsa pulled onto the roadway from the shoulder and was struck from behind by a commercial motor vehicle driven by 24-year-old Tyrone Lowe Jr. of York, Pennsylvania.
The impact ejected Tottress from his vehicle and onto the roadway. His vehicle then left the roadway to the right and struck a concrete bridge support before continuing off the road.
Lowe’s commercial vehicle also left the roadway to the right and struck the face of a guardrail.
Both drivers were injured in the crash. Neither vehicle was carrying passengers.
OHP reported that Lowe was wearing a seat belt, while Tottress was not.
