This is a difficult story for Owassoisms to share because one of the people involved is not simply a name in a collision report. He is a friend and someone many in our community know.
Angelo Lacirignola
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Angelo Lacirignola of Owasso was seriously injured in a head-on collision early Saturday morning on I-244 near Sheridan Road in Tulsa.
OHP reports the crash happened at approximately 12:45 a.m. on September 5. According to the preliminary collision report, the Corvette Angelo was driving was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-244 when it collided head-on with an eastbound Ram pickup driven by 64-year-old Fredie Hunter of Catoosa.
Both Angelo and Hunter were injured. Neither vehicle had passengers, and OHP reported both drivers were wearing seat belts. No fatalities were reported.
For many people in Owasso, Angelo needs little introduction.
He is the outgoing, friendly and usually very funny face many have come to know through $5 Gold Diggers, where Owassoisms has joined him for Facebook Lives on Fridays. Others may know Angelo from Kips lawn care business he previously owned or from his time working at our local Ace Hardware.
For me personally, this one hits differently. Angelo is a friend. Reporting on people you know and care about is one of the hardest parts of running a community news page.
There will undoubtedly be questions surrounding what happened, and those answers need to come from the investigation. The information released by OHP is preliminary and could change as investigators continue their work.
Right now, two people and their families are dealing with the aftermath of a very serious crash.
Please keep Angelo, Fredie and everyone who loves them in your thoughts and prayers as they recover. ❤️
