5/14/26 – Thursday morning, shoppers walking into Target may have done a double take after being greeted by a large group of Owasso Police Department officers near the entrance. Fortunately, there was no emergency taking place. and no warrant checks either, despite a few joking comments from customers turning their carts around.

The officers were there for “Cops and Coffee,” a community event sponsored by the newly remodeled Starbucks located inside the store. The event gave residents a chance to sit down, enjoy coffee and donuts, and have casual conversations with local officers in a relaxed setting.

Community members were encouraged to ask questions, share concerns, or simply get to know the officers who serve the area each day. Events like these help build stronger relationships between law enforcement and the community, all while sharing a few laughs over coffee and the classic cop-and-donut pairing.

For many shoppers, it turned an ordinary Target run into an unexpected opportunity to connect with local law enforcement in a positive and friendly environment.
