Two men are behind bars after Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office deputies say a Good Samaritan was robbed and assaulted after stopping to offer help.
Deputies responded Monday night to the area of 6100 N. Rockford Ave. after a witness reported seeing a man thrown from a moving SUV.
According to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, the victim believed the SUV had run out of gas and stopped to see if the occupants needed assistance. Instead, he told investigators that two men threatened him and ordered him into their vehicle.
The victim said the suspects demanded money and assaulted him. As the SUV drove away, he was thrown onto the roadway, suffering a fractured foot.
Authorities said a FLOCK camera alert helped Tulsa Police quickly locate the suspect vehicle. Officers detained the two men until Tulsa County deputies arrived.
Jose Esparza-Becerra, 35, and Juan Torres, 37, were arrested on complaints of Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
Both men remain in the Tulsa County Jail and have ICE holds, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
These are arrests, not convictions. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
