TULSA, Okla. — A 38-year-old man was killed in an early-morning motorcycle crash on the Oral Roberts University campus Sunday.
According to Tulsa Police, officers responded to the campus around 2:03 a.m. on September 13 after a security guard called 911 and reported finding a motorcycle that had crashed into a drainage ditch near the northeastern roadway leading onto campus.
The rider, identified as Courtney Shaw, 38, was found unresponsive next to the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Shaw was traveling westbound toward Lewis Avenue when he lost control of the motorcycle, struck the base of a light pole and flipped into the drainage ditch.
Police said heavy rain was falling at the time of the crash and may have been a contributing factor.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
