✨ Prep & Organize
• Declutter first — only put out clean, working items people will actually want.
• Group similar items together like kitchenware, books, toys, or tools to make shopping easier.
• Hanging clothes on racks if possible instead of piling them on tables can help them sell faster.
• Team up with neighbors for a multi-family sale — bigger sales attract bigger crowds!
💵 Pricing Tips
• Price items to MOVE. Garage sale shoppers love a bargain.
• Use stickers or painter’s tape for easy pricing.
• Bundle smaller items together like “Fill a box for $5.”
• Be prepared to negotiate, especially toward the end of the sale.
📍 Make It Easy to Find You
• Use bright signs with large lettering and arrows at major intersections. Check your the regulations from your city on signage first. Some cities, like Owasso, only allow 2 street signs per sale.
• Post your sale online in local Facebook groups, Marketplace, and community pages and of course here 🙂 .
• Include photos of larger or popular items to grab attention.
💳 Payment & Safety
• Have plenty of small bills and change on hand.
• Venmo and Cash App can make things easier for shoppers.
• Keep cash on you instead of using a cash box.
• Keep doors to your home closed and limit access to private areas.
🚫 A Few Things to Avoid
• Huge piles of clothes can overwhelm shoppers — quality over quantity works best.
• Mark your items! If not, at least have a $1 table, $2 table etc. Don’t keep people guessing. “Make an offer”, can turn shoppers off of your sale.
• Don’t expect retail prices. The goal is to clear things out, not store them longer.
🎁 After the Sale
Load up leftover items for donation right away so they don’t end up back in the house!
