An 11-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly pointing an Orbeez gun at Tulsa Police officers during an investigation into an attempted robbery involving a group of juveniles.
According to Tulsa Police, officers responded around 4:40 p.m. on May 27, 2026, to the Windsong Apartments near 31st Street and Mingo Road following reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Police said a 12-year-old boy told officers he was riding his bicycle through the apartment complex when he was confronted by several juveniles around his age who were reportedly wearing ski masks. The victim told officers some of the juveniles were carrying Orbeez-style pellet guns and one threatened to take his bicycle.
Investigators said one of the juveniles then fired the Orbeez gun at the victim several times, leaving small welts. The victim was able to recover his bicycle and return home for help. He declined medical treatment.
While searching the area, officers located a group of juveniles matching the description in a nearby Taco Bueno parking lot.
According to police, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens when approaching the group. During the encounter, an 11-year-old suspect allegedly pointed an Orbeez gun toward a patrol vehicle and tracked an officer as he exited the vehicle.
Police said the remaining juveniles fled the scene with the Orbeez gun, but officers recovered another Orbeez gun from the 11-year-old after taking him into custody. Officers also reportedly found a vape device and a ski mask in his possession.
The juvenile was arrested and transported to the Community Intervention Center on complaints of:
- Pointing a Dangerous Weapon
- Obstruction
- Possession of Tobacco by a Minor
Authorities emphasized that the arrest is not a conviction.
Tulsa Police also urged parents to speak with their children about the dangers and potential consequences of this type of behavior.
