05/20/26 – Tulsa Police report the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Rosa Parks Elementary School , 13700 E. 46th Street as a parent was picking up his child from school. Investigators say the man was placing his child into a truck when a coyote reportedly emerged from underneath the vehicle and bit him.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries, including precautionary treatment related to possible rabies exposure.

Tulsa Police Officers and Tulsa Animal Services later tracked the coyote to an area near a pond at the QT headquarters campus. Due to the aggressive behavior and potential threat to the public, officers ultimately euthanized the animal.

Authorities say the coyote has been collected and will be examined to determine whether it was infected with rabies.

Officials noted that coyote attacks within the city are uncommon. Residents who encounter a coyote are encouraged to avoid the animal and contact Tulsa Animal Services. Authorities also remind the public never to feed coyotes, as feeding them can cause the animals to lose their natural fear of humans.
