Two men have been arrested following an investigation into the robbery of a man who had reportedly won money at a casino.
According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers began investigating the robbery on June 25, 2026, around 5:12 p.m. The victim told investigators he had recently hit a jackpot at a casino and shared the news with a friend, 21-year-old Dwayne Hastings.
Police said Hastings invited the victim to meet up, and the two arranged to meet at the Maverik gas station near 41st Street and Sheridan Road.
After the victim arrived, Hastings reportedly told him he needed to run up to a nearby apartment and walked away. Moments later, a masked man armed with a handgun approached the victim and stole his phone, wallet, cash, and medication.
Investigators said the victim never saw or heard from Hastings again after the robbery.
The masked suspect was later identified as 33-year-old Mandell Kent after detectives reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Kent in possession of the victim’s cellphone.
On June 30, officers executed a search warrant at Kent’s apartment around 9:30 a.m. During the search, investigators located two firearms. Because Kent is a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Kent was arrested on complaints of:
- Robbery
- Possession of a Firearm After Former Conviction of a Felony (AFCF)
Later that morning, around 11:30 a.m., Tulsa Police Robbery Detectives and the Mingo Valley Street Crimes Unit located Hastings at a residence near Urbana Street and Ash Avenue in Broken Arrow.
According to police, officers observed Hastings exit the home, hand a bag to someone waiting in a vehicle, and then run back inside. The Broken Arrow Police Department stopped the vehicle a short time later and recovered three loaded handguns and ammunition.
Detectives contacted Hastings by phone and instructed him to exit the residence. He surrendered a few minutes later and was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search warrant at the home led investigators to Hastings’ cellphone, which police said had been intentionally smashed.
Hastings was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on complaints of:
- Robbery
- Possession of a Firearm After Former Conviction of a Felony (AFCF)
- Destroying Evidence
- Obstructing an Officer
Police credited the successful investigation to the combined efforts of Tulsa Police Robbery Detectives, the Mingo Valley Street Crimes Unit, the Fugitive Warrants Unit, and the Broken Arrow Police Department.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and both suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
