The City of Broken Arrow has received approximately 30 reports since last week from customers noticing an earthy taste or smell in their tap water.
City officials say the change is caused by naturally occurring organic compounds in the Verdigris River due to extreme heat and a lack of rainfall. Although the water may not taste or smell as expected, it continues to meet or exceed all state and federal requirements and is safe to drink.
Customers experiencing water-quality concerns are encouraged to provide their name and address so the city can document and evaluate the issue.
Residents may report concerns by:
- Calling the Action Center at 918-258-3587 during regular business hours
- Calling the non-emergency line at 918-259-8400 after hours
- Emailing water_resources@brokenarrowok.
gov - Using the “Report an Issue” section of the My Broken Arrow Action Center app
