A former president of the Morrow Elementary Parent Teacher Organization has been arrested following an investigation into the alleged misuse of PTO funds.
According to the Owasso Police Department, Amy Hunter is accused of embezzling approximately $55,000 from the organization by making unauthorized personal purchases over a four-year period, from 2020 through 2024.
The investigation began in January 2025 after a PTO check issued to purchase a new playground swing set was returned because the organization’s bank account did not have sufficient funds.
As detectives examined the PTO’s financial records, they allegedly discovered a pattern of unauthorized spending involving the organization’s accounts.
Investigators allege Hunter made 978 unauthorized purchases along with 39 cash withdrawals between 2020 and 2024, totaling more than $127,000 in transactions.
Following a review of the records, police determined that approximately $55,000 had been embezzled from the PTO.
According to investigators, the unauthorized spending included hotel stays, travel expenses, alcohol purchases, restaurant charges, and online shopping.
Hunter has since been removed from her position as PTO president.
The case will now proceed through the court system as the investigation moves into the judicial process.
