An 18-year-old Owasso man is facing multiple felony charges after police say a high-speed pursuit Tuesday night ended with a crash in Sperry that injured people in an unrelated vehicle.
According to Owasso Police, an officer spotted a vehicle driving recklessly near 86th Street North and 145th East Avenue around 8:17 p.m. Tuesday, August 25.
The officer attempted to make a traffic stop near 13600 E. 86th Street North, but police say the driver immediately entered oncoming traffic and sped westbound on 86th Street North.
Because the roadway was congested at the time, police say the driver’s actions elevated the incident to felony eluding. The officer pursued the vehicle west through the 129th East Avenue business corridor and eventually out of Owasso, with additional officers joining the pursuit.
Once outside the city, police say speeds reached approximately 100 mph between Highway 75 and Sperry. Officers backed off as the vehicle approached Highway 11, but the driver allegedly continued at a high rate of speed.
Police say the suspect’s vehicle entered the intersection of 86th Street North and Highway 11 and struck an unrelated truck that was already in the intersection. The impact sent the suspect’s vehicle into a deep ditch and spun the other truck around.
The suspect reportedly got out of his vehicle and ran into a field northwest of the intersection. Owasso officers chased him on foot and took him into custody several hundred yards into the field.
Officers then helped the occupants of the other vehicle and provided medical aid until emergency crews arrived. The victims were treated by Sperry Fire Department personnel and transported by Owasso Fire paramedics to a local hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.
Owasso Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Eric David Pineda-De Los Santos of Owasso. He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and a blood draw to determine possible intoxicant levels before being booked into the Tulsa County Jail.
Police say Pineda-De Los Santos is facing charges of felony DUI/drugs involving an injury collision, felony eluding involving an injury collision, felony leaving the scene of an injury accident, obstructing police, possession of marijuana without a medical card, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, reckless driving and speeding.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was asked to handle the collision investigation and report. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with traffic control along the highway.

According to police, officers first spotted a truck being driven recklessly near 86th Street North and 145th East Avenue in Owasso. The driver was reportedly speeding and crossing into oncoming traffic.
Officers began pursuing the vehicle, with the chase continuing for more than 10 miles before reaching Sperry. The pursuit ended when the suspect’s truck crashed into a vehicle driven by an uninvolved motorist.
Police say the suspect then got out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby field. Officers eventually located the driver and took them into custody.
Investigators also reported finding narcotics inside the suspect’s vehicle.
The uninvolved driver was injured in the crash but is expected to recover.
The incident remains under investigation by the Owasso Police Department.
