A fatal incident occurred on eastbound I-244 near Utica involving a pedestrian and two vehicles, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Authorities say a 59-year-old Tulsa man, identified as Monte N. Barnett, was on the outside shoulder of the highway and appeared to be attempting to cross the roadway. As traffic approached, he reportedly entered a lane of travel.
One driver, a 35-year-old Tulsa man, told troopers he attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to do so before making contact. A second vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old woman from Edmond, then struck the pedestrian after he was down in the roadway.
Barnett was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers involved were not injured in the incident.
Next of kin has been notified.
