🔥 DAVE’S HOT CHICKEN — WE TOOK ONE FOR THE TEAM 🔥
Dave’s Hot Chicken opens in Owasso Friday, and we were invited in today for a sneak peek and a taste test. It’s a tough job, people. But somebody has to do it. 😂
First things first. For everyone thinking, “Oh yay, another chicken place…” — hold that thought. This one is definitely a little different.
I’ll admit, the word HOT in the name had me slightly concerned before we ever walked through the door. I like my food with a little kick. I do NOT like it fighting back.
Thankfully, Dave’s lets you pick your own level of bravery. Their chicken comes in seven spice levels, ranging from Not Hot all the way to Reaper.
We stayed toward the civilized end of the scale and tried the lower heat levels. Afterward, I decided I could have gone up another notch.
Then I looked over and saw members of the Owasso Fire Department filming each other eating the Reaper. The FIRE DEPARTMENT. If the people who literally run toward fires think something is worth filming, I’m out. 😂🔥 And apparently you have to sign a waiver before eating the Reaper. Any food that requires legal paperwork before lunch is above my pay grade.
Now, about these “sliders.”
We ordered the two sliders with fries meal. I’m not sure who at Dave’s named these things, but they have a very loose interpretation of the word slider. 😂 These things were BIG. The meal was easily enough food for two people, and one of mine is currently sitting in my refrigerator waiting for tomorrow’s lunch.
The tenders were huge, too, and everything we tried had great flavor.
Not a meat eater? They even have a cauliflower version called Dave’s NOT Chicken. So yes, even the cauliflower gets to dress up like fried chicken and join the party.
Then came the important part: drinks.
We tried the Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, Frozen Hi-C Orange Lavaburst and a Strawberry Shake. Apparently we were taste-testing the entire building. 😂
The verdict?
We’ll definitely be back.
Next time, I’m moving up a heat level.
But the Reaper? I’ll leave that one to the professionals at the fire department. 🚒🔥😂
