TULSA, Okla. – A 65-year-old woman was arrested on a drug trafficking charge after Tulsa Police responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a Walmart near Admiral and Memorial.
According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers were called to the store around 11:17 p.m. Sunday after Walmart security reported seeing Teresa Ballard place merchandise she had not paid for inside her purse.
Store security told officers they discovered suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia while checking her belongings.
During their investigation, officers reportedly found a bag containing approximately 39 grams of methamphetamine. When questioned about the substance, Ballard claimed it was sugar.
Police also discovered a pipe and a small amount of marijuana in her bag.
When officers questioned Ballard about the pipe, she denied owning it but reportedly remarked, “That’s not how they used to do it back in my day.”
Police said she did not elaborate on the comment.
Ballard was arrested on a charge of trafficking illegal drugs.
An arrest is not a conviction. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
