Oklahoma shoppers can save money on back-to-school clothing purchases during the state’s annual Sales Tax Holiday, which runs Friday, August 7, through Sunday, August 9, 2026.
The tax-free weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 7, and ends at midnight on Sunday, August 9.
During the three-day event, both state and local sales taxes are waived on eligible clothing and footwear items priced at less than $100 per item. The exemption applies to qualifying purchases made in stores, through catalogs, and online during the holiday.
Eligible Items
Shoppers can save on a wide variety of everyday clothing and footwear, including:
- Shirts
- Jeans
- Dresses
- Coats
- Socks
- Boots
- Sneakers
- Other qualifying apparel and shoes priced under $100 per item
Items Not Included
The sales tax holiday does not apply to:
- School supplies such as notebooks, pencils, backpacks, and binders
- Accessories including jewelry, handbags, wallets, and watches
- Athletic or protective equipment such as cleats, helmets, or sports protective gear
