A Tulsa man is behind bars after police say he attempted to sell stolen golf clubs on Facebook Marketplace—only to end up meeting officers instead of a buyer.
According to Tulsa Police, the investigation began on July 24 when a man reported that his vehicle had been burglarized while it was parked near Cain’s Ballroom. The victim told officers that two sets of golf clubs and three pairs of shoes had been stolen.
A few days later, on July 28, the victim spotted his stolen golf clubs listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He arranged to meet the seller at the QuikTrip near Highway 412 and Gilcrease Museum Road, while Tulsa Police coordinated to make contact with the suspect.
When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Roderick Scallion sitting in a stolen Toyota Tacoma with one of the stolen golf bags visible in the truck bed.
Police say Scallion fled the parking lot as officers approached. Officers activated their lights and sirens and pursued the truck until it stopped on Eason Place. Scallion then allegedly jumped out and attempted to run on foot before officers deployed a Taser and took him into custody.
Investigators recovered the stolen golf clubs, along with another bag connected to a separate burglary case, from the truck.
Detectives also linked Scallion to a recent theft at Academy Sports, where surveillance video reportedly showed him stealing merchandise before leaving in the same stolen pickup.
Scallion was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on the following complaints:
- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
- Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
- Possession of Stolen Property
- Larceny
As with all criminal cases, these are allegations. An arrest is not a conviction, and Scallion is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
