A major new investment is headed to Owasso, bringing hundreds of new jobs and new life to the former Macy’s distribution center.
Greenheck Group has announced plans to acquire the massive former Macy’s facility in Owasso as part of a significant expansion of the company’s Oklahoma manufacturing operations.
The company plans to invest approximately $300 million into the Owasso location and expects the expansion to create more than 700 new jobs over the next five years.
The former Macy’s facility encompasses approximately 1.3 million square feet on 72 acres. Once operational, the new location will more than double Greenheck Group’s manufacturing footprint in Oklahoma.
Greenheck already has a substantial presence in the Tulsa area, with its existing campus employing more than 900 people. The Owasso property is located less than 15 minutes from those operations, making the former distribution center a strategic location for the company’s continued growth.
Plans call for improvements to the Owasso facility to be completed by spring 2027, with manufacturing operations expected to begin soon afterward.
The announcement is especially significant for Owasso following Macy’s closure of the fulfillment center earlier this year. Greenheck’s plans would put the enormous industrial property back into use while bringing a substantial private investment and hundreds of new employment opportunities to the area.
More information about the project and acquisition is expected to be announced during a joint press conference with state officials on September 18.
