The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred Saturday night, July 4, in Rogers County.
According to the preliminary investigation, the crash happened at approximately 9:32 p.m. on U.S. Highway 169 near County Road East 300. The collision involved a Chevrolet Trax and a GMC Sierra that was pulling a boat.
The driver of the Chevrolet Trax has not yet been identified, as the investigation remains ongoing. Three passengers were also inside the vehicle. Authorities said one passenger was injured. Information regarding the driver’s condition has not yet been released.
The driver of the GMC Sierra was identified as Ryan Lawfer, 21, of Sapulpa. Lawfer sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
Three passengers were riding in the GMC Sierra. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that one passenger was injured, while two others were killed. The deceased passengers were identified as Aidan Jones, 22, of Wagoner, and a 17-year-old from Kiefer, whose name is being withheld because of their age.
Investigators also noted that not all occupants in either vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Next of kin have been notified.
